Malta: No bail for TB sufferer

A tuberculosis patient who denies possessing drugs remains behind bars because he failed to prove he was married in Malta, weakening his ties to the island.

Saheed Olowoshbile, 34, a Nigerian living in St Paul's Bay, appeared in court on Monday charged with possessing 0.5 grams of cannabis on Sunday.

Mr Olowoshbile's Nigerian partner told Magistrate Miriam Hayman yesterday they only lived together and had a child.

She denied bail as he could not offer legally required guarentees.
