UK: Nine held in police cannabis swoop

NINE people have been arrested and £80,000 worth of drugs were seized in a series of raids by police.

Seventy police officers and PCSOs were involved in the operation in Edlington on Tuesday.

Six men and three women, all from Edlington, were arrested on suspicion of the production of cannabis and possession with intent to supply.

A total of one hundred and thirty cannabis plants and other controlled drugs were recovered with an estimated street value of £80,000.

Det Con Mary O'Shea, who led the operation, said: "This operation was planned around suspected organised criminals who were thought to be involved in the large scale production and supply of cannabis.

"Police in Doncaster prioritise this type of crime and will tackle those responsible.

"Officers will act on information from the public about those responsible for causing misery within communities."
