UK: Pot farm in the barn: Landlord spared jail for unknowingly allowing two men to run cannabis factory
The Mirror Thursday 16 Aug 2012 A struggling dairy farmer who unknowingly allowed two men to run a cannabis farm in his barn has been shown mercy. When dad of six Andrew Titterton, 39, learned what was going on, he kept quiet for the sake of a monthly £440 rent, a court heard. Last summer, a police raid busted the operation, worth up to £96,000. Patrick Buckley, defending, told Liverpool crown court his client was "not worldly-wise", adding: "Jail would be catastrophic for him and his family." A judge took pity on Titterton, 39, who admitted allowing the operation in Saverley Green, Staffs, and gave him a 10-month suspended jail sentence. David Houghton, 42, of Skelmersdale, West Lancs, got four years after admitting conspiracy to produce drugs. Ian Adderley, 46, of Liverpool, got two and a half years for admitting running the factory. http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/landlord-spared-jail-for-unknowingly-allowing-1263464
