Scotland: Cops raid car valet that was doubling as £750k cannabis factory
Daily Record Thursday 16 Aug 2012 A MASSIVE cannabis farm disguised as a car cleaning business was busted by police yesterday. Officers from Strathclyde Police raided the Gold Star car wash in Kirkintilloch, near Glasgow, and seized hundreds of plants with an estimated street value of around £750,000. Teams of officers combed the site for clues following the 11am raid. Dressed in forensic suits, with face masks to avoid inhaling the pungent fumes, the investigators spent several hours inside the building, taking photos and video footage and bagging up the plants and equipment they found as evidence. The cannabis was being cultivated in the Woodilee industrial estate on the outskirts of the town. The plants were found in a huge building in the car wash yard, its windows boarded up to hide the cannabis from prying eyes. Signs on the building offered a range of services from a £4 car wash to a Gold Star valet costing £45. Four men have been detained by police following the raid. http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/news/scottish-news/car-valet-doubled-as-750k-cannabis-1264984
