Mailbag: Comparing death tolls: Cannabis scores zero

Adam Foss

We have been conditioned to think cannabis use is bad. Let's wipe the slate clean and start over, be open minded to the truth about cannabis.

Scientific research has found cannabinoids exert a neuroprotective effect, so well it exerts a protective effect against the damage of alcohol use in the brain.

Dr. Donald Tashin's study at UCLA shows no association at all between smoking cannabis and lung cancer, and in fact smoking only cannabis has lowered rates of lung cancer.

Other research has found that cannabis is an exit drug; it's been shown to be valuable in helping addicts from drug abuse.

Another study showed mothers using cannabis have lower mortality rate in live birth. It's been proven as an anti-inflammatory and analgesic and many more.

In 2011 the FDA recalled over 500 prescription medications. And if you have not noticed, prescription drugs abuse is an epidemic gripping our nation.

Annual deaths: Tobacco over

6 million, alcohol over 2.5 million, prescription drugs 100,000, cannabis 0.
