UK: Stash worth £250 found in bedroom

North Devon Journal

Thursday 06 Sep 2012

DRUGS with a street value of around £250 were seized from a house in Combe Martin, a court was told.

Officers raided Liam Mullane's home, Wesley Manse, in Castle Street on May 17 where they found cannabis leaf and cannabis resin.

Mullane, 21, appeared before North Devon Magistrates' Court on Friday where he pleaded guilty to possession of 24.35g of cannabis.

Mark Haddow, for the prosecution, said police had information and executed a misuse of drugs warrant at the property the defendant shares with his family.

He said a lump of cannabis resin was found in his brother's room and in the defendant's room cannabis leaf was found in three places valued at around £250.

Rod Ball, for the defence, said Mullane lived with his parents and was on Job Seeker's Allowance. He said he previously worked at local holiday parks and had bought the drugs in bulk with money he had saved up. Mr Ball said it was for Mullane's own use.

Magistrates gave Mullane a 12-month conditional discharge and ordered the forfeiture and destruction of the drugs.
