A DRUG dealer from Nelson who dealt cannabis from his car has been jailed for 16 months.

Mohammed Rahim, 32, of Leeds Road, pleaded guilty to six separate counts of possession with intent to supply the class B drug.

Burnley Crown Court heard how police seized bags of cannabis skunk with a street value of around £1,850 from Rahim’s car.

Officers from Pennine Division's Targeted Crime Team also found a set of digital weighing scales.

His charges dated from November 9 to November 23 last year.

Detective Superintendent Martin Kennedy thanked those who highlighted criminal behaviour in their neighbourhood.

He said: "We were aware of concerns from members of the public about drug dealing in the area.

"As a result of this information, we launched a dedicated operation during which we saw Rahim regularly visit a car parked on a quiet residential street. On arrest we found him with the cannabis and scales.

"I hope people in Nelson are reassured that we have listened and taken action to remove a drug dealer from the community."
