UK: Eastbourne drug dealer given community service

Eastbourne Herald

Thursday 18 Oct 2012

A 21-YEAR-OLD man has been sentenced to community service and fined for drug dealing.

James Wood, of Longstone Road, must complete 60 hours of service and pay £500 for possessing cannabis with intent to supply.

Police arrested him in January this year after they obtained a warrant for his address following investigations that he was drug dealing.

Sergeant Julian Williams, from Eastbourne Neighbourhood Policing Team, said, "Information was received from the community that they suspected Wood to be supplying cannabis so a warrant was obtained and his home address was fully searched by officers.

"Cannabis was seized, together with evidential material to indicate that he was involved in the low level supply of it.

"We encourage the public to continue to supply information about suspected drug dealers so that we can continue to target the dealers.

"This is another example of a drug dealer being successfully prosecuted following community intelligence."
