Zambia: Girl, 14, Nabbed for Drug Trafficking Anthony Mulowa Times of Zambia Saturday 20 Oct 2012 It is believed that the girl was sent to sell the illicit drug by her father, who has since fled. DEC public relations officer Samuel Silomba said the girl, who hails from Morgan Mupu Village in the Central Province district, was arrested on Monday. "This week on Monday, the 15th of October 2012, the commission apprehended a 14-year-old girl of Morgan Mupu Village in Serenje District for trafficking in cannabis. She was selling the drugs on behalf of her father," he said. The girl was found with three bags of cannabis weighing 58.3 kilogrammes and also had K2.1 million cash on her. "She was apprehended at their residential address in Morgan Mupu Village. The commission is searching for the juvenile's father whose whereabouts are not known," he said. Meanwhile, an 82-year-old peasant farmer in Kaoma has been arrested for trafficking in 39 bags of cannabis weighing 476 kilogrammes. Julius Munkondya of Chimbindi Village was found with the contraband in Kaoma, in Western Province, after an operation. Also arrested was Joyce Mumba, 23, a peasant farmer of Mumba Village, Serenje, and Wedson Chola, 25, a peasant farmer also of the same area for trafficking in cannabis concealed in a polythene bag weighing 17.23 kilogrammes. Others arrested were Chola Muyapembe, 80, a peasant farmer of Ikunko Village in Serenje for trafficking in 7.3 kilogrammes of cannabis and Isaac Chingumbe, 24, of Banda Farm in Mkushi for trafficking in 5.12 kilogrammes of cannabis. http://allafrica.com/stories/201210200429.html
