UK: Cannabis 'used for pain relief'
Milford and West Wales Mercury Thursday 25 Oct 2012 Steven James Warlow, aged 38, of Lawrenny Street, appeared before Haverfordwest magistrates on Tuesday for possessing 2g of herbal cannabis in Neyland on September 7. The court was told Warlow had been on medication for the last 20 years for a stomach complaint, but his prescription drugs only stopped acid reflux and not the pain. Warlow’s solicitor, Mark Layton, said his client recognised cannabis was illegal, but chose to use it for medical reasons and had gone back and fore to doctors over a number of years to find an alternative. District Judge Vivian Manning- Davies said he found it ‘somewhat disturbing’ if Warlow had experienced difficulties for two decades. “I really would have thought with the state of medical science in this country someone somewhere could help you,” he added. Mr Manning-Davies ordered the destruction of the cannabis. Warlow was fined £150 and with costs of £85 and a victim surcharge of £15. http://www.milfordmercury.co.uk/news/9995949.Cannabis__used_for_pain_relief_/
