A 22-YEAR-OLD appeared in court after being found with cannabis in his pocket on a Barnstaple street.

Thomas Kennedy, of 48a Boutport Street, Barnstaple, pleaded guilty to possessing 0.66g of cannabis when he appeared before North Devon Magistrates' Court on Friday

Sonia Croft, for the prosecution, said the drugs were found on him after he was stopped and searched by police in Queen Street in Barnstaple on September 29.

Tim Hook, for the defence, said: "The amount of cannabis found on my client would rival the smallest amount to have ever grace this court's door."

Kennedy was given a 12-month conditional discharge.
