UK: Digmoor tenant evicted by West Lancashire Borough Council after 40-plant cannabis farm uncovered by police Rob Pattinson Ormskirk and Skelmersdale Advertiser Thursday 08 Nov 2012 The drug farm was found by police when they executed a warrant in November last year at David Green’s home in Banksbarn. Officers also found the electricity meter had been bypassed. At a subsequent hearing at Ormskirk Magistrates Court, Mr Green, 46, was found guilty of production of cannabis and dishonestly using electricity. He was sentenced to 60 days’ imprisonment, suspended for 18 months, given a supervision requirement and a drugs rehabilitation order for six months. After his conviction, West Lancashire Borough Council began working to take the property off Mr Green. He was evicted on Tuesday, October 16, after Wigan County Court granted possession to the council. District Judge Goodwin stated: “It is clear to me that this was cannabis production on an industrial scale.” Cllr David Sudworth, portfolio holder for community safety, said: “This sends out a clear message that the cultivation of cannabis in our communities will not be tolerated.” http://www.osadvertiser.co.uk/news/skelmersdale-news/2012/11/08/digmoor-tenant-evicted-by-west-lancashire-borough-council-after-40-plant-cannabis-farm-uncovered-by-police-80904-32185117/
