UK: Offender’s cannabis cancer claim
Derbyshire Times Thursday 29 Nov 2012 Ashley Hall was arrested on the night of October 11, the Chesterfield court heard, to prevent a breach of the peace at his partner’s home in Swanwick. Becky Mahon, prosecuting, said: “He was taken into custody and searched and a small cannabis wrap was found in his jacket pocket. It is accepted it was for his own personal use.” Hall, 26, formerly of South Street, Swanwick, and now of Warwick Road, Somercotes, admitted possessing cannabis. The father-of-two said: “I’ve been poorly. I’ve just got over cancer.” He said he started using cannabis again while undergoing chemotherapy and it helped him. He continued using it but wanted to stop. He added he and his partner were “on a break”. Presiding magistrate David Summers fined him £93 with £85 costs and ordered that the drugs be destroyed. http://www.derbyshiretimes.co.uk/news/local/offender-s-cannabis-cancer-claim-1-5181553
