Gibraltar: Prison for cannabis supply (300 grms)

A three month prison sentence was handed down to local man Dennis Hurtado, 19, following his pleading guilty to possession with intent to supply of cannabis resin weighing 300grams.

Sentenced in the Magistrates court yesterday, Hurtado received no separate penalties were afforded for being in possession and importing the drugs.

Hurtado was arrested in the early hours of the morning of November 14 by Drug Squad officers in a covert operation. Superintendent Acris, the lead crime officer in the Royal Gibraltar Police has said that he was satisfied with the result, but reiterated that he believes there is a need to target drug suppliers in Gibraltar and he urged the community to assist the Police in this fight.
