US: Prosecutor Recommends Ten Year Sentence for Chris Williams

KFBB

Tuesday 15 Jan 2013

A prosecutor is recommending that Chris Williams spend ten years behind bars. This comes after the former medical marijuana provider struck a post-conviction plea agreement in December with a mandatory five year minimum sentence.

Williams was convicted on eight drug and weapons charges for his role as head of Montana Cannabis' Helena greenhouse.

In Assistant US Attorney Joseph Thaggard's sentencing memo, Thaggard advises that Williams should serve consecutive five-year sentences for the two charges he pleaded guilty to.

Willimas is facing a mandatory minimum sentence of five years, which is what his attorney is requesting from U.S. District Judge Dana Christensen.

Williams will be sentenced on February 1st. After deciding to go to trial, he made a deal in December after the verdict left him facing at least 80 years in prison.
