UK: Melting snow leads police to cannabis plants in outhouse

The Star

Tuesday 29 Jan 2013

MELTING snow led police in Rotherham to a cannabis cultivation set-up.

Officers from the Rotherham North Safer Neighbourhood Team were searching a property in the Meadowbank area of the town last Thursday when they noticed snow melting on the roof of an outbuilding in the garden.

When they searched the outbuilding they found 93 plants growing under specialist heating and lighting systems.

A 50-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of production of cannabis and has since been released on police bail pending further inquiries.

Police Constable Dave Law said: “Members of the public can be reassured that the Rotherham North Safer Neighbourhood Team will act promptly on information received from members of the public or our partner agencies and that relevant action will be taken against any offenders found.”
