India: 2 Nepalese held with 18 kg cannabis

PUNE: Two Nepalese have been arrested for allegedly possessing 18 kg cannabis worth Rs 36 lakh. The suspects-Ustam Ghale (24) and Dilbahadur Ghale (40) -were rounded up by the police from a hotel near Jedhe chowk in the Swargate area on Friday.

Senior inspector Ram Pathare, in charge of the Swargate police station, on Saturday said that the duo allegedly brought the drug from Nepal on Friday afternoon and booked a room in the hotel.

The police also seized their passports, mobile phones and wallets from them. The two are suspected to be having links with an international gang involved in drug peddling as verification of their passports has revealed that they have travelled to various countries.

A magisterial court has remanded the two in police custody till March 1.
