After a long fought battle for thelegalization of marijuana, a new club in Denver Colorado, “Club 64,” hasrecently been opened for personal use of the drug.

Although some may disagree on the decisionmade to open Club 64, many others are enthusiastic about the arrival of the newclub. “Up until today, we were the kind of people who had to be secretive aboutwho we were and how we lived our lives,” Gabriel Kinderlay, a member of the newclub explained to CNN reporters. Kinderlay also stated that members are nowable to talk about using marijuana together and share it freely. She is excitedto see that people are becoming more accepting and accustomed to it. A fee ofonly 30 dollars to get into the private club is all it takes to be able tosmoke and share marijuana freely with others. The purchase of marijuana in thisfacility is not yet permitted, but owners and members have high hopes to seemarijuana being sold there by next year. However, CNN states that it is notclear on how the government will react once establishments like Club 64 beginselling marijuana since the drug is still under illegal federal guidelines.Members are hoping to see a positive outcome out of the new club and are hopingthat Club 64 has set an example for others.

Not everyone will be a fan of establishmentssuch as Club 64 around the United States, but others seem to have become moreaccustomed to the idea. “…I see it as a place where people can go and cometogether and enjoy each other’s company and really be open about the use of cannabis just as they arealcohol,” said co-owner Chloe Villano, who has high hopes for Club 64. Manypeople will argue that consuming alcohol in a bar and smoking marijuana in aclub are no different from each other, it is all about who you are and somepeople use it as a way to express themselves. “Let Denver serve as a beacon ofhope for those who want to know what true freedom is about,” said Miguel Lopez, also a member of Club 64. The use of marijuana in places like Club 64 may havegiven many people a new look towards the drug, but as of now it is stillillegal under federal guidelines. The new club is onlythe beginning to many others that are likely to come soon.
