Australia: Protesters call for release of “Tony Medicine Man”

ABOUT 40 people have arrived outside Page MP Janelle Saffin's Lismore office to protest against cannabis laws and the jailing of a man who grew marijuana at Nimbin to make a cannabis-based tincture.

The protesters marched from the Police Station and Court House to Ms Saffin's office and Lismore MP Thomas George's office calling for the release of "Tony Cleverman", otherwise known as Tony Bower.

The protesters have said Mr Bower had been providing them with a cannabis-based tincture free for medical purposes until he was arrested about a year ago.
