28/5/13 - Cannabis Party Select Ikaroa-Rawhiti Candidate

The Aotearoa Legalise Cannabis Party (ALCP) has selected its candidate for the Ikaroa-Rawhiti by-election, which will be held on June 29.

Party officials will hold a press conference at Parliament, at 1pm on June 4, to announce the sucessful candidate.

This press conference will coincide with NORML's White Flag meeting at Parliament, calling for an Armistice agreement in the War on Drugs.

"We are planning some major announcements that will not only shake up the race for Ikaroa-Rawhiti but set up the ALCP for parliamentay representation in 2014," ALCP leader Michael Appleby said.

"Labour MPs are calling for cannabis to be decriminalised so it's great to know that are some viable coalition options for ALCP in the future. We hope that other parties will become more vocal about cannabis law reform and the cost of prohibition."
