New Zealand: Green Party 'lose credibility' on cannabis issues
Voxy.co.nz Saturday 01 Jun 2013 The Green Party has done everything in its power to retain votes from the Cannabis community but hasn't introduced a single bit of legislation to relax Cannabis laws since 2002. (http://www.greens.org.nz/press-releases/greens-call-medicinal-use-marijuana) "The Greens' policy claims to support decriminalisation of Cannabis but they have not even advocated their own policy publicly during the legal highs debate," ALCP spokesman Steven Wilkinson said. "They should either promote Cannabis reform publicly and introduce a private members bill to that effect or shut up and let the cannabis community support a party that is dedicated to solving the problem of prohibition." The Greens have lost credibility on the Cannabis issue and have been beaten to leading the debate by Labour. Only Labour Party MP Iain Lees-Galloway has come out in support of cannabis 'decriminalisation' recently while the Greens have remained silent on the issue. While some Labour and Greens MPs reluctantly support decriminalisation, the ALCP whole heartedly support legalisation with regulation, the only policy which would solve the problems associated with the black market. Only an ALCP backed coalition government in 2014 will ensure New Zealanders get the policy that deliver social, economic and environmental benefits. The Greens also claim that climate change is their biggest issue but they have been virtually silent on the solutions to the problem offered by hemp. Since former ALCP candidate Nandor Tanczos left parliament the Greens have not mentioned the Hemp issue. "Hemp should be promoted to address climate problems without resorting to the extreme globalist strategy promoted by Kennedy Graham," Mr Wilkinson said. "It is also hard to believe that the Club of Rome, Green MP had no knowledge of his brother's fraudulent financial activities." http://www.voxy.co.nz/politics/green-party-lose-credibility-cannabis-issues/5/157116
