Is it time for America to come out of the cannabis closet? A new poll by the Pew Research Center finds that 48 percent of adults have used cannabis in their lives, up from 40 percent three years ago. Among that group, 12 percent used pot in the last year. Of those who used within the last year, 47 percent did it for kicks, 30 percent cited a medical issue and 23 percent cited both. More than a quarter of young adults have smoked pot in the last year, and 64 percent of them support legalizing cannabis. More than half of middle aged folks have tried pot, compared with 22 percent of those over 65.
