US: Marc Emery Put in Solitary Confinement

Marijuana freedom-fighter Marc Emery, a Canadian imprisoned in the USA for his political activism, has been put in solitary confinement for reasons unknown.

Three of Marc's fellow inmates at Yazoo prison in Mississippi have individually contacted his wife Jodie to inform her that he was put in a Solitary Housing Unit (SHU) yesterday afternoon.

The prison has confirmed that Marc is only available for visiting hours on Friday and not the weekend, indicating that he is indeed locked in the SHU.

Jodie has not received her regular calls and electronic mail from Marc, another indicator that something is amiss.

At this point, no one is sure why Marc was put in the SHU, but fellow inmates say other members of Marc's prison band were also locked up.

Inmates locked in the SHU spend their time confined in a single-bed cell with no human contact for 23 hours a day.

Cannabis Culture will publish more information as it is available.

Marc Emery was sentenced to five years in prison in the US after being arrested and extradited for selling marijuana seeds and using the money to fund marijuana legalization activism (including Cannabis Culture and Pot TV).
