Jersey: Customs & Immigration Service James Qualtrough Jersey Isle News Thursday 11 Jul 2013 On Friday 5th July, following a very short term operation, almost 40 kilos of the drug was found by Officers concealed in a car that had arrived on the Condor fast ferry from Poole. A 27 year old British male has been charged with drug trafficking offences in connection with this seizure. On Tuesday 9th July, following the culmination of a long term operation that was unrelated to the first seizure, Customs and Immigration Officers found a total of 72 kilos of cannabis resin in a commercial vehicle in St Lawrence. A 26 year old Jersey male has been charged with drug trafficking offences in connection with this seizure and enquiries are continuing. Director of Law Enforcement for the Jersey Customs and Immigration Service, David Nurse said; “It has been a busy few days for Officers who have worked very hard to bring both of these operations to a successful conclusion. These are both significant quantities of cannabis; the seizures and subsequent arrests have seriously disrupted syndicates attempting to import commercial quantities of drugs into the Island” http://jersey.isle-news.com/archives/customs-immigration-service/18394/
