UK: Workers stumble on 8ft cannabis plants growing on Norfolk Broads

Norwich Evening News

Friday 23 Aug 2013

The plants were discovered off Ferry Lane in Postwick yesterday by Environment Agency staff who stumbled upon them when they were working in the area.

They called the police and officers went to the scene yesterday afternoon. They seized dozens of plants, which had grown to between 6ft and 8ft.

PC Paul Bassham, from Norfolk Constabulary’s Broadsbeat team, said: “The plants were found in an extremely remote area, and while, on the whole it is unusual, this is not the first time cannabis plants have been found on the Broads.

“In June last year 60 plants were found growing in an area off the River Bure close to Ranworth Broad.”

Police believe the plants were being carefully cultivated and the location had been selected because of its remoteness.
