21 75 euro fine for ALL cannabis possession in Antwerp

Sat 07/09/2013 - 10:11 Colin Clapson The city of Antwerp has decided to reverse its drugs policy. In future anybody found in possession of the soft drug cannabis will be fined.

Until now possession of amounts of cannabis below 3 grams did not result in a fine. In future police officers will draw up a police report resulting in a 75 euro fine.

The decision means that the approach to drugs possession in Antwerp will be stricter than elsewhere in Belgium where other municipalities follow a ministerial directive that is more lenient.
