Letter: Cannabis safer than alcohol, tobacco, sugar Ben Lyons thespec.com Monday 09 Sep 2013 It is the height of hypocrisy to condemn cannabis on the basis of its dangerousness but omit any comment on alcohol, tobacco, sugar (yes, sugar kills). These commentators reveal themselves as insincere and uneducated when they make these attacks on cannabis, a safer, non-harmful intoxicant that cannot kill you, yet leave out any comment on these other "traditional" recreational intoxicants that kill people every day. I can poison myself with alcohol, but cannot partake of cannabis. Why not? If not cannabis, then not alcohol or tobacco either. Nor sugar, nor caffeine, nor automobiles, nor industry, nor fine French food nor walking in the rain, nor shaking hands nor breathing, I suppose. Air pollution kills and shortens life, cannabis never has, ever once harmed anybody ever, and is a proven medicine. Disagree? Prove it with facts, not bias.
