US: State names pot applicants

Wednesday 27 Nov 2013

SEATTLE — From Dank’s Wonder Emporium to Woody’s Weed Warehouse, hundreds of businesses are lining up for legal marijuana licenses in Washington.

The state Liquor Control Board on Tuesday released a list of 929 applications to produce, process and sell marijuana received since Nov. 18, when the window for applying opened. The deadline is Dec. 19.

The most — 444 applications — were for pot growing. There have been 327 applications to process cannabis, and some of those were filed by people also seeking to grow pot.

The board says it will license up to 334 pot shops statewide.

There’s no limit on the number of growers or processors.
