Compounds in cannabis could reduce stroke damage

Chemical compounds found in cannabis may help to reduce the impact of stroke and improve neurological function.

The three variations of cannabinoids (those found naturally in the body, those created artificially and those derived from cannabis plants) were found to shrink the area of the brain affected by stroke.

According to the World Health Organisation, stroke is responsible for nearly six million deaths a year.
