Two state senators are pushing legislation to legalize medical marijuana in Pennsylvania.

Democratic Senator Daylin Leach and Republican Senator Mike Folmer authored Senate bill 1182, the Compassionate Use of Medical Cannabis Act.

The bill would legalize the use of medical cannabis by patients as recommended by attending physicians.

The bill marks the first time in Senate history that a medical cannabis bill has been drafted with bipartisan support.

Senator Leach says, “Studies have shown that medical cannabis has a multitude of health benefits that will help people who are suffering, and there are so many Pennsylvanians in need of that help.”

The next step…the bill heads to a senate committee for consideration.
