UK: Thousands Of Cannabis Users To Occupy Hyde Park On April 20th
The Cannabis Geek Saturday 19 Apr 2014 Following the huge success of last year’s event, in which some 10,000 people spent a sunny afternoon enjoying liberty, we’ve decided to do it again, and this year it falls on Easter Sunday, so I think we’ll have no shortage of munchies to boot! The London 420 Cannabis Rally is the largest cannabis event of the year. We’re very pleased to be having some fantastic speakers this year including NORML UK/UKCSC‘s Clark French. Clark is an MS patient and cannabis activist. You may have seen him on BBC, ITV, and Channel 4. More speakers to be confirmed. Transport The nearest tube station is Marble Arch (Central Line), and if you’re coming by bus you might want to choose from the following, or search for yourself on TFL: North London: 6, 7, 10, 16, 52, 73, 82, 390, 414 South London: 2, 36, 137, 436 West London: 9, 10, 14, 19, 22, 52, 74, 148, 414 East London: 8, 15, 30, 38, 274 For those coming from outside the city, it needn’t cost an arm and a leg. Sites such as Megabus offer one-way tickets from as low as £5, and typically not more than £9, even from as far away as Manchester. It’s a great excuse to spend a long weekend in the city, so why not crash at a friend’s place and make the most of your trip? If you’re worried about coming alone then check out the Facebook event page and you’ll surely encounter others who’re more than happy to show you around and make you feel welcome. Activities We’re going to congregate at Speakers’ Corner from midday onwards. Beyond listening to speakers and organising a few Easter egg hunts, this is an event for meeting others, sharing smokes, and having a relaxed day in a beautiful setting, but if the mood takes us there could well be a march on some of the cornerstones of the British political establishment. However, we wouldn’t want to make it easy for the authorities, so let’s talk more about that once we get there. Will I Be Arrested? This type of event has been happening every year in London, and there are never any arrests made. People have been spotted openly engaging with police officers whilst smoking a joint, so I think we needn’t fear arrest, especially as this year’s event is set to be much larger than any which have gone before. While I wouldn’t advise taking the piss or goading the police, I think it’s reasonable to assume they won’t go out of their way to trouble us. Subscribe For Updates You can keep up to date with the latest news on the 420 meet at either my Facebook or Twitter pages, and see what the London Cannabis Club is planning here. Don’t forget to add your name to the list of attendees here, and share this date with everyone you know. Let’s show our leaders what we think of their ridiculous laws. http://thecannabisgeek.com/hyde-park-london-thousands-cannabis-users-april-20/#.UzP5aYXPspc
