Whoopi Goldberg to pen bi-monthly marijuana column for the Denver Post

The comedian will write about her personal experience using pot to help treat her glaucoma-induced headaches.

Whoopi Goldberg's career is going up in smoke.

The 58-year-old "The View" host has signed up to write a marijuana-focused column in The Cannabist, a news and culture website focusing on legalized recreational cannabis for The Denver Post.

Goldberg's column, which debuted on Thursday, focused on how she smoked marijuana from a vaporizer to help treat glaucoma-related headaches.

The actress, who calls her portable vaporizer "Sippy," extolled the virtues of the drug to ease her pain.

"These glaucoma-induced headaches come on like freight trains-like, BOOM, my head starts hurting, my eyes start bugging, my whole body starts to tense up," Goldberg wrote. "But then I find her, and it relaxes everything and calms everything. It helps my head stop hurting, and with glaucoma your eyes ache, and she takes the ache out. It's wonderful."

The marijuana, Goldberg writes, has replaced taking Advil every day.

"It's important for people to know that there are alternatives out there to pain management," Goldberg wrote. "And this one is particularly magical."

Goldberg plans to write the column every two months and focus on her personal experience with marijuana.
