Brazil: Protesters call for legal marijuana in Brazil

SAO PAULO (AP) — Brazilian police say about 2,000 people have gathered in downtown Sao Paulo in a demonstration demanding the legalization of the production and sale of marijuana in Latin America's largest country.

Several of the demonstrators were smoking marijuana cigarettes while carrying posters reading "Legalize Marijuana Now," and "Marijuana is Medicine."

Police say the demonstration was peaceful. No arrests have been reported.
