UK: Legal loophole lets island Britons smoke cannabis
Yorkshire Post Saturday 17 May 2014 Residents on Guernsey can smoke the Class B drug for medicinal purposes under a little known clause in the Channel Island’s independent legal system. Users have to obtain a special licence and prove they are seriously ill before getting the green light to import and possess it. The loophole came to light after a bedridden islander pleaded to be allowed to smoke cannabis legally as relief for chronic neurological pain. Since then, several more ?people have been given permission. The Channel Island is a dependency of the British Crown but has its own legal and healthcare systems. http://www.yorkshirepost.co.uk/news/main-topics/general-news/legal-loophole-lets-island-britons-smoke-cannabis-1-6622666
