UK: Clydach man claiming criminal prosecution is breach of his human rights (Neil Morgan)

South Wales Evening Post

Tuesday 29 Jan 2013

A MAN who is claiming that a criminal prosecution for the alleged production of an illegal drug has breached his human rights will stand trial in April this year.

Neil Morgan, 57, pleaded not guilty to a charge of producing cannabis when he appeared at Swansea Crown Court.

Morgan, of Hillrise Park, Clydach, did not have any legal representation in the court.

Judge Paul Thomas asked him what his defence to the charge would be.

Morgan replied: "That the prosecution case is a breach of my human rights under articles 8, 9 and 14 and that the Misuse of Drugs Act has been inappropriately administered."

Morgan also told the court that he accepted the drugs which were found in his house on October 17 were cannabis.

Judge Thomas set trial for April 15 when Morgan will reappear before the court.
