US: Life sentence for pot brownies
Statesman Wednesday 28 May 2014 Jennarally Contrary: That’s ridiculous. If I have 1 gram of marijuana sprinkled through an ounce of dried grass clippings are you going to charge me for an ounce of marijuana? Miike Wiilen: Not saying I agree with the law, but it’s not for making a few pot brownies for himself. Big difference. Patrick Gutierrez: What a waste of time! Don’t the police and prosecutors have something better to do? Go find some real criminals. Mike Turner: He “faces life in prison” does not mean he will get it. People “face” stiff penalties all the time yet get lesser ones. That is the max he can get. Might get probation. Let’s wait and see before all the system bashing. Leanne Clayton Seewald: Way too stringent of sentencing guidelines on this one. Impose this on repeat DWI offenders instead. They are the ones killing people on the roads, not the potheads. David Lane: It’s the same thing as when a dealer cuts coke with mannitol or makes crack — you can’t separate the illegal ingredient so the whole thing gets weighed. Let’s hope the judge has some common sense. Diane Brawley: Don’t do the crime if you can’t do the time. Deborah J Ringstaff: Change our laws. Cannabis is NOT a schedule 1. The government made a mistake and they know it! http://www.statesman.com/news/news/opinion/facebook-comments/nf79R/
