It is understood more than 100 patients with conditions including multiple sclerosis, arthritis and other chronic conditions will be given the drug orally as part of the trials funded by the Government's Medical research Council. The news comes after a survey revealed more than half of doctors believe the current law on cannabis is too strict. many people with MS and other illnesses say the drug has alleviated pain and helped them cope with their conditions. But the drug is currently illegal and cannot be prescribed. Professor Dave Rowbotham and his team from the University of Leicester's department of anaesthesia and pain management, will begin a new trial next year. It will take place at the Leicester Royal Infirmary's pain clinic and probably at Leicester general. Prof Rowbotham is currently reviewing data from a trial carried out earlier this year. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Legalize!
