UK: Pupil permanently excluded from Tollbar Academy for possession of cannabis
Grimsby Telegraph Wednesday 09 Jul 2014 It was one of the crimes listed in a report at a meeting of New Waltham Parish Council. The monthly report listed the drugs offence as one of the five crimes throughout June that were reported to Humberside Police. PC Grant Johnston said it involved a small amount of cannabis leaf. After the meeting, academy principal Stephen Moon confirmed that a student has been permanently excluded for possession of a small amount of cannabis in line with the school’s policy. The four other offences in the month in the village included theft of ten jars of coffee from The Spar shop in Station Road, for which a charge has been laid. PC Johnston said damage was also caused to the fence bordering Tollbar Academy during the time travellers were camped in the lay-by off Louth Road. He said there was a theft from a home in the village and the unauthorised use of a credit card to buy take away meals, which were being investigated. There were also ten incidents of anti social behaviour committed in a number of locations in New Waltham, including Green Gables, St Clement’s Way and Station Road. PC Johnston said he had moved from the Sidney Sussex ward to take on responsibilities for policing in New Waltham. He said: “To have five (crimes) instead of 96 in a month is welcome to me.” In May in New Waltham there were 11 recorded crimes, including three assaults, two of which were domestic assaults. There were also two cycle thefts and shop theft from The Spar shop and an attempted indecent assault when a female got into a vehicle mistaking it for a taxi. http://www.grimsbytelegraph.co.uk/Pupil-permanently-excluded-Tollbar-Academy/story-21349076-detail/story.html#q4m071wRQatx4tPs.99
