Netherlands: New CBD Strain Available in Dutch Pharmacies

A new cannabis variety, containing about 9 percent CBD and 1 percent (or lower) THC, has recently been approved for sale in pharmacies throughout the Netherlands.

The CBD-rich variety, called Bedrolite, will likely find a broad market among medical patients seeking relief from epilepsy, muscle spasms, Crohn’s disease and inflammation of all sorts.

Bedrolite is not currently being marketed specifically for children with epilepsy like the CBD-rich Charlotte’s Web and CBD oils in America. However, it is likely that many Dutch parents with children suffering from Dravet Syndrome or epilepsy will be interested in Bedrolite tinctures, as non-psychoactive CBD is an ideal option for treating children.

The Epilepsy Foundation has long supported the rights of patients and families living with seizures and epilepsy to access “physician directed care, including medical marijuana.” The Foundation has also called for an end to DEA restrictions that limit clinical trials and research into medical marijuana for epilepsy.

So, don’t expect to get high with Bedrolite in the Netherlands (Amsterdam offers plenty of alternate sources of THC). But hopefully the new strain offers relief from illnesses and an alternative to consuming medications that will destroy other parts of your body in the process of alleviating symptoms.
