People of Seattle can now buy cannabis from a vending machine like they do when they’re buying snacks or soda. Except that for buying marijuana they will need to show their medical marijuana identification card and enter a medical marijuana dispensary.

The first marijuana vending machine is called ZaZZZ and debuted Tuesday morning at the Seattle Caregivers, which is a known medical marijuana dispensary.

The marijuana vending machine was created by a company from Arizona called American Green, which said that their machine is the first one that can verify age, is climate-controlled and features a self-service dispensary.

Stephen Shearin, he president and COO of the Arizona-based company American Green, said that the marijuana vending machine is based on the regular vending machines used in bars that sell cigarettes, among other products. He added that such a machine was needed in the 21st century, since vending machines are very helpful and can service the public effectively.

The new marijuana vending machines will be inside the Seattle Caregivers and will provide a wide variety of recreational and medicinal marijuana flowers, merchandise and edible products that have been infused with cannabis.

According to a news release, the machines are temperature-controlled and come equipped with an advanced technology that can scan and verify the identity of the user. Also, the machine will verify the user’s age and other relevant data before providing the selected products.

Shearin also said that the marijuana vending machines will always be attended, to avoid any unfortunate events. Also, there will always be an official person in charge of verifying the users’ ID before they make any purchases.
According to Shearin, no one will be able to buy anything from the machine unless they show their medical information to the person in charge.

Marijuana vending machines have been in use in Colorado since last year, but according to American Green, those machines only had edible products infused with THC.

Unlike regular vending machines, the marijuana ones will not take credit cards since pot is not legal at a federal level.

Seattle Caregivers can be found on South Jackson Street in Seattle’s International District.
