Malaysia: Thai woman sent to the gallows for drug trafficking

KANGAR: A 37-year-old Thai woman was sent to the gallows by the High Court here today after she was found guilty of trafficking 407.5g cannabis two years ago. Judicial Commissioner Datuk Mohd Zaki Abdul Wahab passed the sentence after ruling that prosecution had proved the case against Rohanee Subakoye beyond reasonable doubt. The mother of four, who was a rubber tapper in Changlun, had committed the offence at the Wang Kelian Immigration Post at 2pm on Jan 28. Clad in white T-shirt, the accused only nodded her head when the sentence was read to her by the court interpreter. Prosecution was conducted by Customs Department deputy public prosecutor Mohd Khairuddin Idris while the accused was charged by Rabiatul Adawiah Ramli, Nor Farishah Mohammad Bahar and Fatin Hayati Abdul Rahman.
