Isle of Man: Chemists join debate on legalising cannabis

Two chemists - who are now members of the House of Keys - say confusion is brewing between legalising medicinal cannabis and legalising the drug itself.

Speaker of the House Steve Rodan says it isn't about regressing to a state of self-medication, but finding benefit in a harmful substance.

One such product is already on the market - Sativex can be prescribed by a doctor for the treatment of a side effect of multiple sclerosis.

Ramsey MHK Leonard Singer says cannabinoids offer some health benefits - but distribution needs to be tightly regulated:
