US: Chicago's first medical marijuana dispensary opens

Chicago’s very first medical marijuana dispensary opened its doors in the Andersonville neighborhood Monday, as reported by the Chicago Sun-Times.

Dispensary 33, located at the corner of Clark and Argyle in a former pizza parlor, held a ribbon-cutting ceremony Monday, Nov. 16, although it doesn’t expect to have medical cannabis available for purchase until December.

A second dispensary in the city’s Logan Square neighborhood, Modern Cannabis, plans to begin selling medical cannabis to patients by the first week of January, per the Sun-Times.

Illinois’ first five medical marijuana dispensaries opened their doors for business one week ago, although none are located within the City of Chicago.
