US: High Times proceeds with plans for Cannabis Cup
Rockey Mountain Collegian Thursday 14 Apr 2016 When Adams County officials denied their request for the necessary permits to host the event at the Denver Mart, where it has taken place for the past few years, event organizers were on the hunt for a new venue. Initially a plan was made to hold the competition in Pueblo, Colorado. After a press release was published to inform event-goers of the new location, word got out that the festival might be cancelled altogether. With preparation time running out, marijuana news outlets waited for an official High Times statement. When it came many were surprised to learn about another venue change. The 2016 Cannabis Cup will take place in Broomfield, Colorado at the 1STBANK Center. This year the event will focus on the flower and concentrate competitions and award ceremonies. The winners will be crowned at the concert ceremony followed by performances from Cypress Hill, George Clinton and Parliament Funkadelic, Action Bronson, Chronixx and Zincfence Redemption. An adult-use area will no longer be featured at the event. To learn more details about the Cannabis Cup, or to purchase your tickets, check out the High Times website.
