Iceland: Cannabis Plants Confiscated in North Iceland

The Northeast Iceland police confiscated 102 cannabis plants in an old house in Grenivík yesterday, specifically equipped for the cultivation, according to the Facebook page of the police.

The street value of the substances could run in the tens of millions of ISK, according to police. Two men, one in his twenties, the other under 20, were arrested and detained overnight. They were released today, following questioning, where they both confessed to having taken part in the cultivation of the plants. They said their intention was to sell the cannabis.

Several drug cases have come to the attention of the Northeast Iceland police lately. Last month, they confiscated 500 g of cannabis in two separate cases. Furthermore, the cultivation of cannabis was recently halted by police in an Akureyri apartment building.
