UK: Police to guard former East Devon Social Club over the weekend after huge cannabis farm discovered

Devon and Cornwall Police will keep guard of a former social club in East Devon over the weekend after a huge cannabis factory was discovered.

Officer sniffed the farm out on Thursday after reports of a strong smell of cannabis in the area around Axe Vale Social Club in Chard Street in Axminster.

Traffic in Chard Street was set to be disrupted while police remove evidence today but it has now been confirmed that due to the scale of the operation they will be travelling to and from the building over the weekend.

Officers originally attended the address at around 7.30am on Thursday 7thJuly.

Due to the extensive amount of equipment and plants found in the property, which is spread over three floors, a specialist team of officers will be at the property on Saturday and Sunday to seize the material.

The Axe Vale Social Club has had planning permission granted to become 11 units. It was on sale for a guide price of £450,000

A 27-year-old man on suspicion of production of class B cannabis.
