Following other Italian regions, Campania has followed suit and voted “yes” for an ad hoc measure that allows for therapeutic use of cannabis. The Regional committee voted unanimously for the proposed law that allows for: therapeutic use on a regional basis, of pharmacological substances with a base of cannabinoids in the region’s healthcare institutions. In addition the law encourages authorized parties to carry out the production of and further research and experimentation on such substances. To this end, the law also provides for, among other things, various agreements to be drawn up for the region’s universities according to which they will be responsible for the titration of the the various principle ingredients involved in each preparation, developed with an established scientific-technichal committee who will be entrusted with studying the various uses of marijuana within the therapeutic context. Given that such uses are allowed in specific instances, in use with support of standard products, when these have not produced the desired effect for a given pathology or symptom, for example: multiple sclerosis, spinal cord lesions, chronic pain, certain effect os chemotherapy, radiotherapy and HIV therapies.
