UK: Cannabis 'bigger than Jesus' when it's decriminalised: Glastonbury campaigner to keep sowing seeds

Cannabis will be "more popular than Jesus or any organised religion" when it is decriminalised says a hemp entrepreneur.

And Free Cannabis from Glastonbury says he will continued to make sure cannabis features in the town's In-Bloom tubs as he has done for nearly 20 years, despite the town council taking steps to remove plants this year.

"I will most definitely be carrying on – I have never made a secret of the fact that I sow the seeds ," said Mr Cannabis, 49.

"The more people become aware of the healing properties that this plant has and the more it becomes part of the mainstream, the bigger it will get.

"Once it is acknowledged for its properties it will be bigger than Jesus –and this actually heals.

"It will be way bigger than any organised religion."

This year the town council ripped up any plants in Glastonbury's In-Bloom tubs after the matter was reported to police by a local resident.

A heated debate followed on social media with many supporting Mr Cannabis' crusade.

One poster at the time said: "For goodness sake, there are worse things going on in the world today and you're worried about weed!!

"Alcohol you buy in the supermarket is more dangerous than weed."

Mr Cannabis sells a completely legal, non-mood altering form of hemp for medicinal purposes.

He also sells clothes, food and other products from his shop, and has spoken before of his desire to see the plant decriminalised.

"The expert opinion is that a diet rich in cannabis is not only beneficial it's necessary for optimum health," he said.

But he is no fan of high THC strains of cannabis such as skunk, which are manufactured under lights in factory conditions.

"I call it mutant crack weed – it's not natural and can be extremely harmful."

He says he believes in decriminalisation as oppose to legalisation so that the product is properly manufactured and controlled under licence - as it is to a small degree now.

Mr Cannabis said he will continue to extol the virtues of the plant as a food, clothing material and medicine, and do his bit to make sure it's represented in the town's floral displays.
