Construction is about to begin on the largest cannabis grow facility in the North Okanagan.

Cannabis company True Leaf is set to break ground on its 25,000 square foot medicinal cannabis grow facility in Lumby, British Columbia

The facility will be built on a 40-acre parcel of land located in Lumby that was purchased by True Leaf in December for $3.3 million.

A “quality of life cannabis company for people and their pets” True Leaf plans to be one of the region's main employers.

Former B.C. premier Mike Harcourt will be in attendance for the ceremonial first dig to kick-off phase one of construction on a 16,000 square foot hydroponic grow building and a 9,000 square foot building housing laboratory services, extraction, and post-production processing.

Construction is expected to be completed in summer 2018, with a first crop produced in the fall.

It’s expected the facility will produce 2,500 kilograms of dried cannabis annually.
