UK: Doctors fascinated by Derbyshire gran who claims cannabis oil 'destroyed cancer' Tom Bokros Derbyshire Telegraph Saturday 23 Jun 2018 A Derbyshire grandmother has won the battle against cancer using only cannabis oil, she says. Lin Coxon was diagnosed with breast cancer in June last year but took Cannabidol (CBD) before her chemotherapy started. Doctors were fascinated to discover that, just a few weeks later, her malignant tumour had shrunk dramatically. And now the cancer has gone into remission as oncologists at Royal Derby Hospital have said Lin’s condition is “stable”. The oil Lin used is completely legal, unlike the recent case of Billy Caldwell whose mother fought for the right to use cannabis oil containing an illegal psychoactive component. The Caldwells visited Lin to talk about their respective experiences. Lin, of Willington, says that, as she didn’t change any other aspect of her lifestyle, she firmly believes it must have been the CBD oil that ultimately forced the cancer into remission. The 69-year-old said: “It wouldn’t have shrunk by itself. Taking the cannabis oil is the only thing I did at the time and now the cancer has shrunk. “I’m not the only person who has done this – there are others too who it has worked for. “When I first tried it, I got in touch with a researcher in London who says that he knows it kills cancer cells, so he was definitely not surprised when I told him it had worked for me. Cannabidol (CBD) oil is a food supplement and is not widely accepted within the scientific community as a way to combat cancer. It is extract from the cannabis plant but it is sold without the psychoactive component – THC – that causes a high. Lin said: “The oil is completely legal. It’s not like the case of Billy Caldwell where the THC is still there. “He and his mum actually came to my house to visit. Her aim with her son’s case wasn’t to legalise cannabis oil with CBD in it but for it to be medically prescribed for her son.” “Although I’m in remission the hospital calls it being ‘stable’. That’s the technical medical term for it that my oncologist used. “The doctor first said I was stable three months ago in March and said they didn’t want to see me for three months. “I’ve also just been back in June and they say I’m still stable and that they don’t want to see me for another four months, which is really promising. “The doctors are fascinated that this has happened. I’m fit and full of energy. “ Lin said she purchased the CBD oil from Natural Choice in Ashbourne as a food supplement that costs £39 for a 10 millilitre bottle. She said: “It used to last me 10 days to two weeks using around 30 drops two or three times per day. Now it lasts me a month using around 10 drops per day. “The thing is, nobody can tell you how much to take at any time because it hasn’t been clinically approved. “All I know is that the researcher said it doesn’t react with any other drugs and it can’t do me any harm. “It actually smells and tastes exactly how I imagined stewed leaves to taste.” Lin spoke of how many have reached out to her since publicising her decision to take CBD oil. She said: “Since I posted the news that it was helping my cancer on Facebook, I’ve had hundreds and hundreds of people send me messages to try and get in touch. “The only thing I say to them is ‘this is what I did, and this is what happened to me after I did it’. “I can’t tell people to try it, it’s up to the individual. But I would like the Department of Health to allow clinicians to test people after they have taken the oil so that we could at least get some research done into it." https://www.derbytelegraph.co.uk/news/health/doctors-derbyshire-cannabis-oil-gran-1698276
